Automotive Technician Position Overview:
Under the limited supervision of the Shop Manager, performs maintenance, diagnosis and repair to all makes and models of vehicles.
Performs general repairs to vehicles.
Performs inspection, diagnosis and repair of all vehicle systems.
Uses vehicle computer and electronics systems to interpret failure modes to recommend repairs.
Perform work in accordance with established safety procedures.
Communicate with vehicle owners, in layman’s terms, about maintenance, service and repair requirements.
Working knowledge of fuel, ignition, cooling, mechanical, hydraulic, electrical and brake systems.
Knowledge of safety procedures and practices necessary while operating or repairing vehicles and equipment
Ability to complete required paperwork to accurately document repairs, utilization of parts and associated repair times
Fully licensed automotive technician
Completion of Apprenticeship for automotive maintenance and repair.
Vehicle driver’s license Class “G”
Red Seal Mechanic Certification
Work is performed in an open shop environment and may be exposed to the elements, noise, fumes, exhaust emissions, grease, engine oils, solvents, chemicals, dust, electrical hazards, mechanical hazards, vehicle hazards and vibrations.
Stand and walk on level and uneven surfaces, twist, bend, push, pull, crouch, climb stairs, reach, bend and crawl, grasp, drag, lift and carry items weighing 80 pounds.
Must be able to meet the physical requirements of the positions and have mobility, vision, hearing, and sense of smell and dexterity levels appropriate to the duties to be performed.
